Nifty and Sensex Erase Early Gains, But PSU Banks and Metals Shine

 

Sensex and Nifty Today Sept 28, 2023: Indian stock market indices opened higher on Thursday, following the mixed global cues. The Nifty index opened higher by 45.35 points at 19761.80 levels, while Sensex also opened a gap-up of 287.32 points at 67627.03 levels. The Bank Nifty also opened higher at 112.05 points at the 44588.30 level.

Market Live at 9.40 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading flat at this moment, hovering near their flat line. The Bank Nifty is also trading flat at 9.40 IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.07 percent and 0.64 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, the PSU Banks, Metals, and Realty sectors are trading higher while Media, FMCG, and IT are under pressure at this moment.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are L&T, Bajaj Auto, JSW Steel, Axis Bank, and Hindalco and the top losing stocks are TechM, Asian Paints, Bajaj Finance, DivisLab, and HUL

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Reliance, and L&T in terms of volume Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, and ONGC

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

The other Asian stock market indexes are mostly trading higher on Thursday, following the mixed cues from Wall Street overnight. Investors are concerned about the rising crude oil price and higher US 10-year Treasury yields.

Japan’s Nikkei extended early losses and is trading sharply lower by 1.90 percent while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 pared early gains and is trading slightly lower by 0.07 percent.

South Korea’s Kospi and Indonesia’s Jakarta Composite are not trading today due to a public holiday. Shanghai trimmed some early gains and is trading slightly higher by 0.13 percent.

The Hang Seng index extended its early losses and is trading lower by 1.09 percent after the exchange announced that shares of Chinese real estate firm Evergrande have been suspended for trading.

Elsewhere, Straits Times, SET Composite, and Taiwan are also trading higher at 9.15 a.m. IST.
