Weekly Updates ( 17-21 Oct)-This Nifty smallcap stock gained 29%: Indian stock market indexes ended sharply higher for the week ended 21 Oct. The benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty continued their winning streak for all five trading sessions and gained over 2 percent for the week. The strong Q2 results, Institutional buying, and positive global cues lifted the domestic market sentiments during the week.

Among the sectors, barring metals and media all other sectoral indices were closed higher, led by PSU banking, energy, and private banking. The broader markets underperformed as compared to the benchmark indices. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) turned buyers again in the Indian equity markets. FIIs bought Rs 1324.34 crore while DIIs also bought Rs 3569.49 crore worth of shares during the week.

Weekly Updates- Indian stock market indexes ( 17-21 Oct)

On a weekly basis, the Indian equity benchmark indices closed on a strong note. Sensex jumped 1387.18 points or 2.40%, and closed at 59307.15, while the Nifty was up by 390.6 points or 2.27%, and ended at 17576.3 levels. The Bank Nifty on the spot price closed sharply higher by 1478.45 points or 3.76 % and finished at 40784.05 levels.

The broader markets underperformed the benchmarks during the week. The Nifty midcap index was up only 167.4 points or 0.55 percent and closed at 30691.85 levels. The Nifty small-cap index closed higher by 135.05 points or 1.42 percent and ended at 9653.5 levels during the week.
