Market Live: Nifty trading above 17100, Metal, Pharma stocks climb

 

Stock Market Live Updates Today 15 March 2023: Indian stock market indexes opened a gap-up on Wednesday, following positive cues from Wall Street and Asian market peers. The Nifty index opened at 17166.45, up by 123.15 points while Sensex made a gap-up opening of 368.35 points at 58268.54 levels. The domestic markets trimmed some early gains due to profit booking in banking stocks but trading in the green.

Indian markets got support as global sentiments improved on the in-line US retail inflation report. The data released on Tuesday showed a drop in US consumer prices in February contributed significantly to uplifting the market mood and reduced some fears of an accelerated rate hike from the US Fed.

The assurance from the US regulators following the collapse of US lender Silicon Valley Bank over the weekend also helped boost the market sentiment. 

Soon, domestic indices trimmed some of their initial gains but continued to trade higher in early deals with value buying. Sensex and Nifty reclaimed their crucial 58200 and 17,100 levels respectively in the morning deals, and currently trading higher with decent gains at this moment.

 

Stock Market Live Today 

 

Market Live at 12 pm IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading higher by 0.44 percent and 0.47 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading higher by 0.46 percent at 12 pm IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.80 and 1.20 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, the FMCG sector is trading lower at this moment. The sectors that are trading higher and lifting the markets are Nifty Metals, Pharma, and PSU Banks. The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Asian Paints, Tata Steel, and Kotak Bank, and the top-losing stocks are Bharti Airtel, HUL, and Nestle India.
