Indian Stock Market LIVE Updates: Markets Rally on GDP Beat and US Momentum

 

Indian Stock Market Live Updates Today, 1 March 2024: Indian stock market indexes opened higher on Friday as India’s GDP data came much higher than expected, and on following positive cues from the US markets overnight. The Nifty today opened higher at 22048.30, up by 65.5 points, while the Sensex also made a positive opening of 106.01 points at 72606.31 levels. The Bank Nifty index also opened higher by 97.1 points at 46218 levels.

Meanwhile, the other major Asian stock market indexes are trading mostly in the green at 9.25 a.m. IST. The Nikkei 225 is gaining the most in the region, up 1.77% at this moment, while Taiwan, SET Composite, and Jakarta are trading marginally lower.

Indian stock market indexes extended early gains and are trading on a strong note. The Nifty 50 index is trading higher by 165 points or 0.75 percent and at 22148 levels while the Sensex is up by 512 points or 0.71 percent and at 73014 levels. The Bank Nifty index is trading lower by 475 points or 1.03 percent on the spot level and at 46594 levels.

The broader markets are also trading higher today, as the Nifty midcap index is up by 265 points or 0.55 percent and at 48600 levels. The Nifty smallcap index is trading higher by 81 points or 0.51 percent at 16056 levels.

 

Indian Stock Market Sectors & Active Stocks

 

Among the sectors, barring Media and Pharma all sectoral indices are trading in the green. The sectors that are leading are Metal, Energy, and Auto.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are BPCL, ONGC, Tata Steel, L&T, and JSW Steel and the top losing stocks are Apollo Hospital, Infy, Sun Pharma, Cipla, and LTIM.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Apollo Hospital, and L&T, and in terms of volume Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, and ONGC.
