US Markets LIVE: Dow Jones and Nasdaq Index Today, 25 July 2023
US Markets LIVE 25 July 2023: The US stock markets opened in the green on Tuesday. Dow Jones opened slightly higher by 10.21 points at the 35421.49 level while S&P 500 made a flat to positive opening at the 4555.19 level. The tech-heavy Nasdaq opened higher by 34.37 points at the 14093.24 level ahead of the big tech stock’s quarterly results.
US Market News
US Stock Market indexes extended their opening gains ahead of the big tech earnings, as Microsoft and Alphabet are set to report their quarterly results after the closing bell. The share price of Spotify fell sharply over 12% after the company reported heavy losses in the second quarter.
The share price of General Electric gained around 6% after the company reported strong earnings due to rising demand for its jet engine. 3M share is also gaining about 7% after the company raised its earning expectation for the full year.
Tech stocks are also trading higher, as the sentiments got boosted by the hope that the Federal Reserve is nearing the end of its interest rate hikes. Investors are cautious ahead of Fed’s meeting outcome, which is due on Wednesday. Investors will be closely monitoring Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s press conference on Wednesday to gauge the Fed’s next rate hike move later this year.
On the economic front, the latest data released showed that consumer confidence rose more than expected in July compared to the previous month. The US 10-year Treasury yields climbed back above 3.9% after settling at 3.85% in the previous session.

At 12.20 EDT, Dow Jones extended its gains and is trading higher by 79.61 points or 0.22 percent at the 35490.85 level while S&P 500 is trading higher by 14.38 points or 0.32 percent at 4569 levels. The tech-heavy Nasdaq extended its early gains and is trading higher by 96.62 points or 0.69 percent at 14155.48 levels.
