US Futures Live: Dow and Nasdaq Futures Hold Steady Ahead of GDP Data

 

US Futures Live: On Wednesday, US markets closed mixed, as investors focused on the quarterly results. Dow erased all gains, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq trimmed most of their early gains after Treasury yields surged. The 10-year Treasury yields climbed to 4.181% from the previous close of 4.138%.

The Dow Jones closed lower by 99.06 points or 0.26% and settled at 37806.39. The S&P 500 index was up 3.95 points or 0.08% and closed at 4868.55. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq ended higher by 55.97 points or 0.36% and finished at 15481.92, as Netflix shares gained over 10% after it added more than 12 million subscribers in the fourth quarter.

In the after-hours session, Tesla tumbled about 6% as the electric vehicle maker missed its fourth-quarter estimates on the top and bottom lines and reported weak guidance for 2024. IBM shares surged over 8% after the tech company beat analysts’ expectations in the fourth quarter results. US markets are expected to react to both stocks on Thursday accordingly.

US futures indexes Dow and Nasdaq futures are trading with little changes on Thursday, with Nasdaq 100 futures trading flat at the 17620 level. S&P 500 futures advanced 2.50 points or 0.05 at 4900 levels. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) futures climbed 88 points or 0.22% and at 38064 levels at 1.55 pm IST or 3.25 a.m. ET

 

US Markets Today

 

On Thursday, US markets will closely monitor the fourth-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) data. The GDP growth for the December end quarter is expected at a 2% seasonally adjusted annualized pace according to the market expert, slowing down from 4.9% reported in the third quarter.

On the earnings front, the healthcare giant Humana will report its quarterly results before the bell, along with Southwest Airlines and American Airlines. After the closing bell, Intel, T-Mobile, and Western Digital will announce their quarterly results.
