Stock Market Weekly Analysis- Top Gainers & Losers
Indian Stock Market Weekly Analysis (25 – 29 April ): Indian stock markets closed marginally lower during the week ended 29 April. The domestic markets started the week on a pessimistic note and later traded volatile in a narrow range for the whole week. The market sentiments were negative due to weak global cues, like a proposition of aggressive US interest rate hikes, and fear of lockdown in Beijing to curb Covid-19 and FIIs outflow, while some optimistic corporate earnings supported and capped the downside of the markets.

Weekly Global Market Updates
The major global market indexes were closed lower for the week ended 29 April. The US market key indexes were down due to growth fears and compounded by disappointing earnings results from Amazon.com on the last day of the week. The market sentiments were negative mainly due to geopolitical and macroeconomic concerns.
European markets closed mixed for the week, as traders were concerned about slowing economic growth, high inflation, and tightening monetary policy. Some encouraging quarterly earnings reports have helped to moderate these losses.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell during the week despite BoJ’s dovish monetary policy. The central bank trimmed its growth forecast due to the resurgence of Covid-19, rising commodity prices, and a slowdown in overseas economic growth.
China’s Shanghai also closed lower for the week due to the spread of Covid-19 cases to other important cities. The fears of lockdown in Beijing and other important cities after mass covid-19 testing was done created panic among the traders in the last week.
FIIs and DIIs investment
Foreign Institutional investors (FIIs) were the sellers during the week ended 29 April whereas the Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) continued their buying spree in the cash segment. FIIs sold Rs 11446.52 crores, while DIIs bought Rs 9703.04 crore in the cash market segment during the week ended April 29.
