Market live today 26 Feb || Indian stock markets are trading lower, Banking and Financial stocks are under pressure

 

Market live today 26 Feb: Indian stock market made a gap down opening today tracking the negative global peers. Nifty opened at 14888.60 levels made a negative opening of 208.75 points while Sensex opened at 50256.71 levels down 782.6 points. The Bank Nifty on the spot price also made a gap down opening at 35806.65 levels, down by 742.35 points.

At 10 am IST, Sensex and Nifty are trading lower by 1.62% and 1.51% respectively while the Bank Nifty on the spot price is trading 2.67% down.

Maruti Suzuki, Dr. Reddy’s Lab, and NTPC are trading as the top gainers in the Nifty index whereas IndusInd Bank, HDFC, and ICICI Bank are trading as the top losers. Reliance, Tata Motors, and Bharti Airtel are trading as the most active stocks in the Nifty index.

On the sectoral front, barring the Pharma sector, all other major sectors are trading in the red at this time.  Banking, Financial, PSU Banks, IT & Software, Realty sectors are trading as the top loser at this time.

 

Indian stock market may open gap down today amid negative global cues

Asian markets are trading in the deep red today tracking the negative US market cues. Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading lower by 2.46% and 2.11% respectively while Shanghai is trading 1.30% down. SGX Nifty is trading 281 points down at this moment. Indian stock market may open gap down today as the indication getting from the global peers.

The US stock markets fell sharply on Thursday as bond yield rose further. The technology-driven index Nasdaq fell 3.52% while Dow Jones and S&P 500 were down by 1.75% and 2.45% respectively on Thursday 25 February.

The European markets slipped on Thursday as higher bonds yield, Inflationary fears, and volatility in the US markets. The European market indexes FTSE and CAC closed in the red by 0.11% and 0.24% while DAX ended lower by 0.69% on Thursday

Indian stock markets closed higher on Thursday tracking the positive global market cues. Sensex and Nifty ended the volatile trading session on a positive note. Sensex gained 0.51% while Nifty was up by 0.77% on Thursday. FIIS were the buyers whereas DIIs were the seller in the cash market segment. FIIs bought Rs 188.08 crore while DIIs sold Rs 746.57 crores in the cash market segment on 25 February.

News that may impact the Indian stock market live today, 26 Feb 

The global rating agency Moody raised its growth expectation for the Indian economic growth to 13.7% for FY22 against 10.8% it had earlier forecasted in October. It has moderated the expected contraction for FY21 to 7% from -10.6%.

US weekly jobless claim fell sharply last week. The initial claims for unemployment benefits totaled a seasonally adjusted 730000 for the week ended Feb 20. This is compared to 841000 in the previous week, the Labor Department said on Thursday.

The December quarter-end  GDP numbers will be announced today by the government. The GDP numbers are expected to remain positive after a contraction of the first two quarters of FY21.
