Market Live Today 23 Feb || Indian stock markets erased all early gains

 

Market live today 23 Feb: It was a positive start for the Indian stock markets today as indicated by the SGX Nifty in the morning. Nifty and Sensex made a gap up opening amid mixed cues from the global peers. Nifty opened at 14782 levels, up by 106.55 points while Sensex opened at 49994.85 levels made a gap up opening of 250.53 points. Bank Nifty on the spot price also made a positive opening of 283.35 points today.

At 9.45 am IST, Sensex and Nifty have erased their early gains and trading flat.  Sensex and Nifty are trading lower by 0.08% and 0.07% respectively while Bank Nifty on the spot price is trading 0.17% down.

ONGC, Tata Motors, Gail are trading as the top gainers in the Nifty index while UPL, Asian Paints, and Kotak Mahindra are trading as the top losers. Tata Motors, Reliance, and Hindalco are trading as the most active stocks in the Nifty index at this moment.

On a sectoral front, Oil & Gas, Capital Goods, and Infrastructure sectors are trading higher whereas Banks, Automobiles, and Chemical sectors are trading marginally lower.

 

 

SGX Nifty is trading higher, Indian stock market may open positive today

Asian markets are trading mixed today. Hang Seng is trading higher by 0.11%  whereas Shanghai is trading almost flat. Nikkei is not trading today due to a holiday. SGX Nifty is trading 65 points up at this moment. The Asian markets cues indicate a positive opening for the Indian stock market today.

The US markets mostly closed in the red on Monday. Nasdaq fell sharply amid rising bond yields. The US market indices S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed lower by 0.77% and 2.46% whereas Dow Jones closed marginally higher by 0.9% on Monday.

European markets trimmed their morning losses and closed marginally lower on Monday. Traders are worried about rising bond yields and inflation despite the increased pace of Coronavirus vaccine rollouts in the continent. FTSE and CAC closed lower by 0.18% and 0.11% while DAX fell 0.31% on Monday.

Indian stock market fell sharply on Monday due to a spike in coronavirus cases in Indian and fear of further lockdown. The Sensex and Nifty fell 2.25% and 2.04% respectively on 22 February. FIIs and DIIs both were sellers in the cash market segment on Monday. FIIs and DIIs sold Rs 893.25 crores and Rs 919.88 crores respectively in the cash market segment on Monday.

The Indian Commerce Department has told to PMO that the worst is over for exports. The two largest forex earning sectors- processed petroleum and gems and jewelry continue to see growth on a monthly basis.

The Nomura India Business Resumption Index (NIBRI) touched 99.3 for the week ended February 21, it was up from 98.5 recorded in the previous week. The Japanese Brokerage firm said that the business activity in India was almost back to pre-pandemic levels. However, the resurgence in Covid-19 cases in Maharastra posed a near-term risk to growth normalization in the coming week.
