Sensex Up 100 pts, Nifty Above 19400, Metals and Energy Rise

 

Sensex and Nifty Today Aug 22, 2023: Indian stock market indices opened higher on Tuesday tracking the positive cues from Asian Markets. The Nifty index opened higher by 23.5 points at 19417.10 levels, while Sensex also opened higher by 56.33 points at 65272.42 levels. The Bank Nifty made a positive opening of 123 points at the 44125 level.

Market Live at 9.35 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading slightly higher by 0.14 percent and 0.18 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading higher by 0.29 percent at 9.35 IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.66 percent and 0.65 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, barring IT all sectoral indices are trading in the green. The sectors that are leading are Metal, Energy, and Media

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Adani Enterprise, HDFC Life, SBI Life, Power Grid, and NTPC and the top losing stocks are Tech M, TCS, Infosys, Titan, and Cipla

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are Adani Enterprise, Reliance, and HDFC Bank in terms of volume Power Grid, Tata Motors, and Adani Enterprise

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

Asian stock markets are mostly trading higher following the rally in tech stocks from Wall Street overnight. Japan’s Nikkei is trading higher by 0.89 percent, as Softbank Group chip unit Arm filed for a Nasdaq listing. South Korea’s Kospi is also trading higher by 0.66 percent.

The Shanghai index erased early gains and is trading lower by 0.24 percent. Hang Seng also trimmed early gains and is trading slightly higher by 0.11 percent as Hong Kong’s July inflation slowed more than expected. Elsewhere, Straits Times erased early gains and is trading slightly lower while Taiwan, SET Composite, and Jakarta Composite are trading higher at 9.30 am IST.
