Market live: Sensex and Nifty are trading higher, Nifty above 11200 levels

 

Sensex and Nifty Live Today: Indian markets opened in positive today as indicated by the SGX Nifty. The Sensex opened at 38124.94 levels made a gap up opening of 390.86 points while Nifty opened at 11258.75 added 105.10 points. The Bank Nifty on spot levels also made a gap up opening at 211.7 points at 21180.05.

At 10 am IST, the Sensex and Nifty are trading higher by 0.50% and 0.56% respectively and the Bank Nifty trading at 0.35% up

Infosys, Reliance and ITC are trading as the top gainers in the Nifty index whereas Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel and JSW Steel are trading as the top losers. Reliance, Bharti Airtel, and Dr. Reddy’s Lab are trading as the most active stock in NSE

Oil & Gas, Metals, and FMCG sectors are trading higher today whereas Telecom, IT and Power sectors are trading lower.

 

Sensex and Nifty may open positive today

Asian markets are mostly trading in the red today. Nikkei is trading lower by 0.60% while Hang Seng is marginally down by 0.19%. The SGX Nifty is trading 19 points higher today. Indian markets are expected to open positive today.

The US markets closed higher snapping four days of losing streak on Tuesday with the hopes of fiscal stimulus. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed higher by 1.71% and 1.05% respectively while the Dow index gained 0.52% on Tuesday, 22nd September.

The European markets mostly closed higher with the gains of oil stocks and tobacco stocks. However, the upper side remained capped as traders were concerns about the imposing lockdown due to the second wave of coronavirus. FTSE and DAX closed higher by 0.43% and 0.41% respectively while CAC was down by 0.40% on Tuesday.

The Indian markets closed in the red continuously for the fourth trading session yesterday. The Sensex and Nifty closed 0.79% and 0.86% respectively. The FIIs were sellers and DIIs were buyers in the cash market yesterday. FIIs sold Rs 2072.76 crore while DIIs bought Rs 878.91 crore in the cash market segment on 22nd September.

Japan’s Manufacturing Purchasing Manager’s Index (PMI) was largely unchanged at 47.3 in September as against 47.2 in the previous month. The world’s third-largest economy is struggling to recover its factory output after it dented by the coronavirus pandemic.

Indian current account will swing to a surplus of $ 30 billion or 1.2% of GDP in FY21. As per the ICRA rating agency this a temporary phase happened due to imports slowdown during the coronavirus pandemic. They expect India’s current account surplus would be $ 24 billion half-yearly during (April- September) of 2020.

Serum Institute has started the manufacturing of a COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by Coadagenix Inc. It has completed the pre-clinical animal studies and phase 1 clinical trials are expected by the end of this year.
