Sensex & Nifty Live Today: Indices Trading in the Red, Auto and Pharma Sectors Drag

Sensex and Nifty Live UpdatesToday, 20 Feb 2024: Indian stock market indexes opened on a cautious note on Tuesday following the mixed global cues. The other Asian stock markets are trading mixed today, with the Kospi index declining the most while Shanghai and Hang Seng erased early losses and trading in the green territory.

Nifty today opened marginally lower at 22099.20, down by 23.05 points, while the Sensex made a slightly positive opening of 19.71 points at 72727.87 levels. The Bank Nifty index opened lower by 90.6. points at 46444.90 levels.

The Nifty 50 index is trading lower by 45 points or 0.21 percent and at 22074 levels while the Sensex is down by 113 points or 0.15 percent and at 72596 levels. The Bank Nifty index is trading edged higher by 22 points or 0.05 percent on the spot level and at 46577 levels.

The broader markets are trading mixed today, as the Nifty midcap index is slightly down by 34 points or 0.08 percent and at 49263 levels. The Nifty smallcap index is trading marginally higher by 18 points or 0.12 percent at 16277 levels.

Among the sectors, Realty, Media, and Fin Services are trading as the top gaining sectors, while Auto, IT, and Pharma are declining the most.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Power Grid, Grasim, Kotak Bank, ONGC, and HDFC Bank and the top losing stocks are Hero Motors, Coal India, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Auto, and HCL Tech.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Coal India, and Power Grid, and in terms of volume are Power Grid, Coal India, and  ONGC.
