Stock Market News and Updates Today

Other than the negative cue from Wall Street, traders got cautious as an IMF official said that the Asia Pacific region is facing three main risks, including global financial tightening and a slowdown in China. Shanaka Jayanath Peiris, Division Chief of the Regional Studies Division, Asia Pacific Department at the IMF, further said that currencies in the region have depreciated sharply while public debt ratios have increased

However, the downside remained capped as India’s services sector growth improved in the month of October, recovering some of the growth momentum lost in September. The seasonally adjusted S*P Global India Services PMI Business Activity Index surged to 55.1 in October from 54.3 in September.

On the global front, Asian markets were mostly closed in the red tracking the negative cues from Wall Street overnight. The market sentiments were also negative as China’s Services Activity registered a sustained slowdown to curb the spread of covid-19 infection and continued to disrupt the business operation in October. European stock market indexes are trading lower tracking the negative cues from the US markets and cautiousness ahead of the BoE interest rate decision.
