Stock Market News and Updates Today

The market sentiments were downbeat due to the negative cues from Wall Street and the surge in crude oil prices overnight. The continued selling pressure by the FIIs also weighed on market sentiments, as FIIs sold shares worth Rs 1244.44 crore on Tuesday.

Some cautiousness also came in with a private report that the prices of selected varieties of pulses have started rising in the past few days due to a delay in the onset of the southwest monsoon over major growing regions of MP, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.

Meanwhile, a NITI Aayog report has underlined the need for technological improvisation and other incentives to promote electric two-wheeler in the country. In the afternoon session, the key indices were trading almost flat looking for a direction on either side.

On the global front, Asian markets were closed in the red following the broadly negative cues overnight from Wall Street, after weak US consumer confidence data. Investors now started fearing that higher interest rates and rising inflation could trigger a recession.
