Stock Market News and Updates Today

The Indian market sentiments were positive as the Income Tax Department said that the net direct tax collections from April to mid of June increased by 45 percent to over Rs 3.39 lakh crore, due to the decent advance tax mop-up. Though the recession fears along with FIIs outflow hit the market sentiments and dragged the market down.

The upside of the market was capped as the latest data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) showed India’s foreign exchange reserves declined by $4.6 billion to $596 billion for the week ended June 10. The fall in the Forex Reserve is due to a decline in foreign currency assets. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman is scheduled to meet the heads of public sector banks to review their performance and progress.

On the global front, Asian markets were closed mixed on Monday, trimming their early losses. China’s central bank kept the lending rates unchanged, as economic indicators are gradually showing positive signals of recovery after Covid-lockdown. European markets are trading marginally higher on Monday as investors are looking ahead to getting further hits of a potential interest rate hike from the US Fed this week.
