Sensex and Nifty closed below their crucial levels

 

Sensex and Nifty Today:  Indian stock markets opened marginally higher on Monday after a long weekend as indicated by the SGX Nifty in the morning. Markets turned negative immediately after opening and fell sharply in the afternoon session due to the resurgence of the coronavirus outbreak in Europe and some other regions.

The benchmark indices traded and closed below their crucial levels 58700 and 17450 respectively most of the day today. The broader market indices underperformed the benchmark indices. All sectors closed in the red today.

Traders’ sentiments were impacted as FIIs were stood as net sellers in the capital market segment, as they have offloaded shares worth Rs 3930.62 crore on Thursday. As per the RBI data showed last weekend, the country’s foreign exchange reserves declined by $763 million to $640.112 billion in the week ended November 12.

Reliance Industries was under pressure fell more than 4 percent today as the country’s largest firm decided to halt a stake sale in its oil to chemical business (O2C) to Saudi Arabia’s Aramco and pulled back from a potential spinoff of its most profitable unit.

At the close, the Indian stock markets index Nifty fell 348.25 points or 1.96 percent and closed at 17416.55 while Sensex was down by 1170.12  points or 1.96 percent and finished at 58465.89 levels. The Bank Nifty spot price closed lower by 847.45 points or 2.23 percent and ended at 37128.80   levels.

The broader markets underperformed today compared with the benchmark indices. The Nifty midcap index was down by 939.80 points or 3.01  percent and closed at 30331.60 levels. The Nifty smallcap index fell by 302.85 points or 2.74 percent and finished at 10734.05 levels.

The top five gainers in the Nifty Index were Bharti Airtel, JSW Steel, Asian Paints, Power Grid, and Grasim. The Nifty index’s top five losers were Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserve, Tata Motors, Reliance, and NTPC.

The top gainers in the Nifty midcap index were Vodafone India, Emani, and Godrej Industries and the losers were Oil India, Navin Fluorine, and Deepak Nitrate. The top gainers in the Nifty smallcap index were Trident, Tanla Platforms, and Engineers Ind and the losers were Indian Bank, Century Plyboard, and EID Parry

The most active stocks in the Nifty index in terms of value were Bharti Airtel, Reliance, and Tata Motors. The most active stocks in the Nifty index in terms of volume were Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, and SBI

On a sectoral front, all sectors closed in the red today. The sectors that closed in the deep red were Realty, Oil & Gas, PSU Bank, Banking, Financial Services, and Healthcare.
