Sensex & Nifty50 index closed at an all-time high

 

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 index continued to trade higher on Thursday, following gains from Asian peers. The markets witnessed heavy buying in metals, Realty, and Capital Goods indices today. In the end, markets extended their early gains and closed at a record high today.

Market sentiments got positive as World Bank President David Malpass’s statement that the Indian economy that was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic is now in recovery mode. He also stated that India, which faces huge challenges of integrating more people into the formal sector economy and raising the earnings of the people, has made some progress but that’s not enough. 

Traders also took note of a private report that India remained at the third position on the Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI), which ranks the world’s top 40 markets (nations) on the attractiveness of their renewable energy investment and deployment opportunities.

At the close, Nifty gained 176.80 points or 0.97 percent and closed at 18338.55 while Sensex was up by 568.90 points or 0.94 percent and finished at 61305.95 levels. The Bank Nifty also gained 705.15 points or 1.83 percent and ended at 39340.90 levels.

The broader markets also closed in the green today. The Nifty midcap index gained 209.35 points or 0.65 percent and closed at 32503.50 levels. The Nifty smallcap index also closed in the green, up 69.45 points or 0.60 percent and finished at 11595.90 levels.

The top five gainers in the Nifty50 index were Adani Ports, Wipro, Grasim, HDFC Bank, and ITC. The top five losers in the Nifty50 index were Coal India, Tata Motors, Eicher Motors, HCL Tech, and HDFC Life. The most active stocks in the Nifty50 index in terms of value were Tata Motors, Wipro, and Infosys. The most active stocks in terms of volume were Tata Motors, ITC, and Wipro.

Ona the sectoral front, barring Auto sectors all other major sectors closed in the green today. The sectors that took the led in today’s rally were Metals, PSU Bank, Financials, Banking, IT, and Realty.

Tomorrow market will remain closed due to Dussehra.

Sensex and Nifty50 index are trading at an all-time high, Realty, Metal stocks are in focus

 

Indian stock markets opened higher on Thursday amid positive cues from the global markets. Nifty50 index opened at 18272.85 levels, up by 111.1 points while Sensex made a gap up opening of 351.77 points at 61088.82 levels. The Bank Nifty spot price also made a positive opening of 48.9 points at 38684.65 levels.

At 10.20 am the equity benchmark, Sensex, and Nifty50 index are trading higher by 0.48 percent and 0.59 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty spot price is trading 0.52 percent up. The Nifty midcap and smallcap indexes are also trading higher by 1.02 percent and 0.73 percent respectively.

The top gainers at this moment in the Nifty50 index are Adani Ports, Wipro, and Larsen and the losers are Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank, and Coal India.

On a sectoral front, the Nifty Realty, Metal, and PSU Banks are trading as top gainers whereas the Auto and Media sectors are trading marginally lower.
