Stock Market Today: Nifty, Sensex Trade Lower Amid Volatility

Sensex and Nifty Today Aug 11, 2023: Indian stock market indices opened slightly higher on Friday tracking the positive cues from global markets but soon turned into red. The Nifty today opened higher by 11.15 points at 19554.25 levels, while Sensex also opened higher by 39.62 points at 65688.18 levels. The Bank Nifty made a positive opening of 26.35 points at the 44568.18 level.

Market Live Today at 9.35 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading lower by 0.27 percent and 0.28 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading lower by 0.44 percent at 9.35 IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.08 percent and 0.34 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, IT, realty and PSU Banking sectors are trading higher while Metal, Pharma, and FMCG sectors are dragging.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are HCL Tech, Power Grid, LTIM, Apollo Hospital, and Titan and the top losing stocks are Adani Enterprise, JSW Steel, ICICI Bank, Hindalco, and Sun Pharma

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HCL Tech, HDFC Bank, and Reliance in terms of volume  Power Grid, Tata Steel, and HCL Tech.

 

Asian Stock Market Live Today

 

Asian stock markets are trading mixed on Friday, as US inflation data reported in line with the expectation. Straits Times is trading 1.12% lower as Singapore’s Q2 GDP grows at 0.1% on QoQ, lower than the 0.3% growth estimated by the government, GDP growth outlook cut this year. Japan’s Nikkei is not trading today due to a holiday.

South Korea’s Kospi is trading marginally higher by 0.17 percent while Shanghai and Hang Seng extended their early losses and trading in the deep red. The Shanghai index is down by 1.41% while Hang Seng is trading lower by 0.80 at 9 am IST.
