Nifty and Sensex Trading Flat While Metals and PSU Banking Stocks Surge

Sensex and Nifty Today, 25 October 2023: Indian stock market indices opened slightly higher on Wednesday, following the positive cues from Wall Street and Asian markets. The Nifty index made an edge-up opening of 4.7 points at 19286.45 levels, while Sensex opened marginally higher at 47.39 points at 64619.27 levels. The Bank Nifty opened higher by 157.1 points at 43308.30 level.

Market Live at 9.35 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading slightly higher by 0.07 percent and 0.06 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading higher by 0.33 percent at 9.35 IST. The broader markets are trading mixed today, as the Nifty midcap index is trading lower by 0.24 percent, while the smallcap index is trading higher by 0.36 percent.

Among the sectors, the Metal, PSU Bank, and IT sectors are gaining the most while the Realty, Pharma, and Auto sectors declining the most.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Hindalco, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, HCL Tech, and Adani Ports and the top losing stocks are Apollo Hospital, HDFC Life, Divis Lab, Infy, and Bajaj- Auto.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Reliance, and Bharti Airtel in terms of volume HDFC Bank, Tata Steel, IndusInd Bank, and Wipro.

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

The other Asian stock market indexes are trading mostly higher on Wednesday following the positive cues from Wall Street. Investors assessed Australia’s third-quarter inflation, which came in at 5.4%, a tick higher than the economist had expected. Australia S&P ASX 200 index erased early losses and is trading slightly higher by 0.07 percent.

Japan’s Nikkei is trading higher by 1.17 percent, while South Korea’s Kospi is trading lower by 0.57 percent. Shanghai is trading higher by 0.51 percent, as China took steps to support struggling local governments. Hang Seng trimmed some early gains and is trading higher by 1.44 percent. 

Elsewhere, the Straits Times, SET Composite, Jakarta Composite, and Taiwan are trading higher in the green at 9.10 a.m. IST.
