Nifty and Sensex Surge; Metals Make Significant Gains

Sensex and Nifty Today 1 Sept 2023: Indian stock market indices opened slightly higher on Friday following positive cues from Asian Markets. The Nifty index opened higher by 4.35 points at 19258.15 levels, while Sensex also opened higher by 24.1 points at 64855.51 levels. The Bank Nifty made a positive opening of 6.95 points at the 43996.10 level.

Market Live at 9.35 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading higher by 0.21 percent and 0.28 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading slightly higher by 0.06 percent at 9.35 IST. The broader markets are also trading higher following their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.16 percent and 0.48 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, all sectoral indices are trading in the green. The sectors that are leading are Metals, Media, and Auto.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Tata Steel, Hindalco, JSW Steel, ONGC, and M&M and the top losing stocks are NTPC, Adani Ports, Adani Enterprise, Infy, and Asian Paints.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Adani Enterprise, and Reliance. In terms of volume Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, and NTPC.

The other Asian stock market indexes are trading higher on Friday, as China’s Ciaxin Manufacturing PMI data expanded in August as compared to a contraction in July. China’s central bank has also announced a cut in reserve requirements to boost the economy. Trading in Hong Kong was halted due to Typhoon Saola.

Japan’s Nikkei is trading higher by 0.50 percent while Kospi erased early losses and is trading 0.18 percent higher. China’s Shanghai is trading higher by 0.23 percent. Elsewhere, Set Composite is trading slightly lower, while Jakarta and Taiwan are trading higher at 9.15 a.m. IST.
