Nifty, Sensex End Marginally Lower; IT Surges, Realty End Lower

Sensex and Nifty Today Aug 1, 2023: Indian stock market indexes ended the volatile session with minor cuts. The domestic markets opened marginally higher and slipped after a few minutes of trading. Markets traded volatile throughout the day and later ended marginally lower.

The market sentiments were downbeat in the morning deal as the manufacturing PMI came to a tick lower in July as compared to the previous month. Investor’s feelings got further hit as foreign institutional investors (FII) consistently sold shares in the Indian equity markets, as per NSE provisional data FIIs sold shares worth a net of Rs 701.17 crore on July 31.

However, some support came in with a private report that the pace of credit offtake continued to be robust in June 2023, with sectors clocking year-on-year (YoY) growth of between 8.1 percent and 26.7 percent. Traders took note of the report that India is expected to receive average rainfall in the August-September period after excess precipitation in July.
