Sensex, Nifty closed flat today, top gainers and losers

 

Market at close: The domestic market sentiments were negative as RBI data showed the country’s foreign exchange reserve declined by $1.47 billion to $639.642 billion in the week ended September 17. Besides, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said despite the huge thrust on financial inclusion and high economic activity, there are districts in the country not having any banking presence at all.

However, the downside of the market remained capped after the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said the net personal income and corporate taxes collection grew 74 percent to Rs5.70 lakh crore so far this fiscal, driven mainly by advance tax and TDS payments.

 

Markets at the close, Sensex, Nifty, and Bank Nifty spot price

 

At the close, Sensex gained 29.41 points or 0.05 percent and closed at 60,077.88 while Nifty was up only 1.09 points or 0.01 percent and finished at 17855.10 levels. The Bank Nifty spot price gained 340.95 points or 0.90 percent and ended at 38171.25 levels. 

The broader markets also closed flat in line with their larger peers. The Nifty midcap index gained 8.85 points or 0.03 percent and closed at 30152.45 levels. The Nifty smallcap index was down by 13.10 points or 0.12 percent and finished at 10823.45 levels.

The top five gainers in the Nifty 50 index were Maruti, M&M, Tata Motors, ONGC, and Hero Motor Corp. The top five losers were HCT Tech, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Divis Lab, and Bajaj Finserve. The most active stocks in the Nifty 50 index in terms of value were Maruti, Tata Motors, and Reliance. The most active stocks in terms of volume were Tata Motors, ONGC, and ITC.

On a sectoral basis, Automobiles, Banks, Realty, Oil & Gas, and Power sectors closed higher. On the losing side, IT, Healthcare, FMCG, Metals, and Financial sectors closed in the red today.

 

Sensex and Nifty are trading marginally higher at 12.20 pm, Bank Nifty up 0.88%

 

Sensex and Nifty trimmed their early gains and are trading marginally higher by 0.11 percent and 0.09 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading higher by 0.92 percent at this moment.

On a sectoral basis, Auto, Banks, and Realty sectors are trading higher whereas IT, Healthcare, and FMCG sectors are trading in the red.

Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, and ONGC are trading as the top gainers in the Nifty 50 index whereas HCL Tech, Divis Lab, and Tech Mahindra are trading as the top losers.

 

Indian Stock Market Opening Updates at 9.45 am

 

Indian stock markets opened higher on Monday amid positive cues from the other Asian market peers. The Japanese market is trading in the green as the fresh daily covid-19 infection numbers drop. Shanghai is trading 1.30 percent lower as China’s Evergrande’s shares of the electric car unit tanks around 26 % on Monday as reported in Reuters due to uncertainty in the future.

The key indices of Indian markets, Sensex opened at 60303.79, up by 255.32 points while Nifty made a positive opening of 79 points at 17932.20 levels. The Bank Nifty on spot price also made a higher opening at 38054.75 levels, up by 224.45 points.

At 9.45 am, Sensex and Nifty are trading higher by 0.52 percent and 0.41 percent respectively while Bank Nifty is trading higher by 1.15 percent.

Asian markets are trading mostly in the green on Monday amid mixed global cues. Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading higher by 0.37 percent and 1.12 percent respectively. Shanghai recovered early losses today and is trading higher by 0.29 percent. The SGX Nifty is trading higher by 97 points or 0.55 percent at 17955 levels. 

The indications getting from the Asian Markets are positive, Indian stock markets are likely to open higher today.
