Share Market Updates: Sensex, Nifty was volatile today

Indian rupee closed at a record low, Sensex, Nifty today, US & European markets trading higher

 

Global Markets, Indian Rupee, US Dollar & More @ 10 pm:  Today the Indian rupee has touched the record low at Rs 75.28 against the US dollar. In the end, the Indian rupee closed at Rs 75.02 against the US dollar today. The US dollar also gained against British Pound on Thursday as the Central Bank across the world had taken steps to cope with coronavirus through financial route had mixed success.

The FIIs/FPIs were the net seller and DIIs were net buyers today in the cash market. FIIs/FPIs sold Rs 4622.93 crores and DIIs bought Rs 4367.43 crores in the cash market today.

 

Global Market today

The India VIX closed more than 12% higher and at 72.19. The European markets are trading more than 1.5% and the US markets are also trading higher today. The Nasdaq is trading more than 3% at 9.30 pm IST. But the SGX Nifty is indicating half a percent down at this moment. 

The crude oil is trading higher today after yesterday’s sharp fall, it is mainly due to the gain in the US dollar. The Brent crude oil future is trading at $26.63 per barrel, almost 6.71% higher than yesterday’s close.

 

Conclusions:

Tomorrow the Indian share market will open as the Asian market cues and as per the indication of SGX Nifty. The Indian share market trend is down, the market is  still “sell on rise”. Investors are advised to track the Asian Market, SGX Nifty’s indication in the morning and European market in the afternoon.

The benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed in a negative zone after a volatile trading session today. On the global front, Asian markets closed in red, European markets erased all early gains.

 

Sensex and Nifty at close today

At close, the Nifty was down by 205.35 points or 2.42% and at 8263.45 while Sensex was declined 581.28 points or 2.01% and at 28288.83. The Bank Nifty fell 490.70 points or 2.41% and closed at 20,083.50. RBL Bank, Kotak Mahindra, HDFC Bank, and PNB are gainers for the day whereas Yes Bank down around 11%, Axis down 9.52% today in the end.

The Nifty midcap 100 index fell 530.55 points or 4.21% and closed at 12064.55. Whereas the Nifty smallcap100 index was down by 223.50 points or 5.56% and closed at 3795.45 marks.

The gainers for the day in the Nifty 50 stocks are ITC, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, and Infosys. The losers for the day in Nifty50 stocks are Bharti Infratel, Coal India, Zee Entertainment, Yes Bank and ONGC.

In the Nifty midcap space, the gainers are Sterlite techno, RBL Bank and the losers are Bharat Electricals, IDFC First Bank. In the smallcap index the gainers for the day are Aegies Logistics, Procter & Gamble and the losers are Future life, Tata Elxsi.

Among the sectors, while closing except Telecom and Photographic Products all other sectors closed in the red. Automobiles, Manufacturing, Metals, Media, Oil & Gas and Consumer Durables all closed more than 5% down today.

Indian Rupee Updates, Sensex and Nifty today live at 12.30 pm: Indian share market extended its yesterday’s losses and opened in a gap down today. Sensex and Nifty breached their crucial support at 27100 and 7950 levels today in the morning. Italy has reported 475 new deaths from the coronavirus on Wednesday- its the highest single-day official toll so far of any nation.

The novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 169 after 18 fresh cases were reported from the various parts of the country. The Body Federation of the Export Organizations (FIEO) said the export sector has started feeling the pinch of the outbreak of coronavirus as International buyers are asking to hold back shipments.

 

Indian rupee today

The Indian rupee has opened at Rs 74.85 in the morning it was down by 0.30 paise from the previous close. It was later extended morning losses and touched Rs75 against the US dollar. At present the Indian rupee is trading at Rs 75.11 and expected to fall further.

 

Sensex and Nifty

The Sensex is at present trading at 28048.48, down by 821 points or 2.84% while Nifty declined by 248.20 or 2.95% and at 8220.60. The Bank Nifty is down by 637.60 points and in 19942.60. The market has recovered from the morning’s lowest levels.

On Sector-wise except for Alcohol, Power and Telecom all other sectors are trading in the red. Automobile, Banking & Finance, Insurance, Media, Metal, and Capital Goods are down between 4-6% today in this hour.

On the Global front, all Asian Markets are down by between 2-5%, Kospi is trading lower and down more than 8% today.
