After years of poor performance, Vodafone decided to cut 11,000 jobs over three years.

Vodafone has businesses in 21 countries and partnership agreements with local operators in another 46 locations, employs 104000 people worldwide

The job cuts would affect the company’s UK headquarters and operations in other countries.

The share price of Vodafone slipped more than 9% in London on Tuesday 16 May 2023.

Vodafone became the world’s biggest mobile telecom group, after the largest takeover of Germany’s Mannesmann in 2000, valued above $190 billion.

Ms Della Valle, appointed CEO said “Our performance has not been good enough. To consistently deliver, Vodafone must change,"

Ms Della Valle also said “My priorities are customers, simplicity, and growth. We will simplify our organization, cutting out complexity to regain our competitiveness.

The share price of Vodafone gained 4.26% in NSE on 16 May, Tuesday and closed at Rs 7.15 per share
