India's Consumer Price Index (CPI) based inflation rate fell to a 3-month low of 6.77 percent in October from 7.41 percent in the previous months

The food inflation eased to 7.01% in October from Sept 22-month high of 8.6%, the food price index was up 1.1 % month-on-month

At 6.77%, the latest CPI-based inflation print is broadly along expected lines, a Reuters poll predicted 6.73% CPI inflation on 10 Nov

Speaking at an event on Nov 13, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said the central bank saw CPI inflation falling below 7 percent in October

Despite the sizeable fall in inflation in October, it remains above the 6 percent upper bound of the RBI's 2-6 percent tolerance band

Earlier in the day, the wholesale price index WPI-based inflation declined to a 19-month low of 8.39% in Oct on easing prices of essential items.

According to Reuters, the economist expects RBI MPC to raise rates by at least 25 bps at its next meeting on Dec. 5-7

RBI raised the repo rate by 190 bps since the start of the tightening cycle in May, according to a Reuters poll another 50 bps rate hike is on the card by March end
